Zionism is the belief in the Jewish people's right to self-determination in their historic homeland. Supporting that right is not of course racism. You can criticise Governments' as we all do from time to time, and that can of course include the Israeli govt. As a Jew and Councillor, I find it deeply upsetting to see Zionism equated to racism. The Green Party and its members have successfully singled out one particular group, one people, to become a target for antisemites. I call upon the Green Party to reverse this motion.

What is the Green Party's "Zionism is Racism" motion?
On 4 October 2026 the Green Party of England and Wales passed a motion declaring that "Zionism is racism". It brands as racism the belief, held by around nine in ten British Jews, that the Jewish people have the right to a homeland of their own, and binds the party to treat that belief "as any other form of racism". Councillors and MPs of every other party are being asked to say, in public, that Zionism is not racism.
